Today, Saturday, His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received Engineer Waleed Shamlan Al-Bahar, the Acting Director-General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, in the presence of Dr. Waed Abdullah Badhib, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation.

During the meeting, the President welcomed the Kuwaiti delegation, congratulating them on the signing of the financial arrangements agreement between the Government of the Republic of Yemen and the Kuwait Fund for Development. He emphasized that this agreement would help relaunch Kuwaiti funding to support Yemen’s development plans and programs.

The President expressed, on behalf of himself, the members of the Council, and the government, his deep gratitude and appreciation to the State of Kuwait, led by His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. He also thanked the Kuwaiti government and people for their brotherly support and the facilities provided to the Yemeni government and people during various stages and circumstances.

The President also expressed confidence that this agreement would lead to the initiation of more Kuwaiti-funded projects and alleviate Yemen’s debt burden toward the Kuwait Fund for Development, especially amid the challenging financial and economic conditions exacerbated by the terrorist Houthi militia’s attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.

His Excellency the president praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, stressing the commitment of the Council and the government to support Kuwaiti projects and their developmental and humanitarian initiatives across various fields.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council also praised the efforts of Kuwaiti financial institutions and charity organizations in rehabilitating services and alleviating the humanitarian suffering caused by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

His Excellency appreciated the understanding shown by the brothers in Kuwait regarding the changing priorities and needs of the Yemeni people, particularly in addressing the deterioration of the national currency and improving essential services like electricity, water, and healthcare.

Engineer Waleed Shamlan Al-Bahar briefed the President on the projects funded by the Kuwaiti Fund in the upcoming phase, including sectors such as electricity, health, and rural roads.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, and Mr. Falah Al-Hajraf, Ambassador of Kuwait to Yemen.
