President Al-Alimi Holds Meeting with Prime Minister and Economic and Service Officials

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Thursday, with Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the Prime Minister, and Mr. Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Mabaqi, the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen. The meeting also included Mr. Salem Bin Brik, Minister of Finance, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Mana’a bin Yamin, Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Saeed Al-Shamasi, Minister of Oil and Minerals, and Mr. Ahmed Lamlas, State Minister and Governor of Aden.

The meeting, attended by Mr. Salem Al-Walidi, Director General of the General Electricity Corporation in Aden, discussed the latest developments in economic, service, and living conditions, particularly the suffering of citizens in Aden due to power plant outages. The discussions also covered measures taken to meet the basic needs of citizens, secure the necessary fuel supply for power generation, stabilize electricity supply, and prevent recurrence of outages.

The President was briefed by the Prime Minister and relevant officials on the general situation in Aden and coordinated efforts with local authorities to tackle service challenges and respond urgently to the priorities and needs of citizens, particularly in electricity, water, and healthcare. They also discussed mitigating the impacts of the financial and humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the Houthi militias' attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lanes.

During the meeting, the President briefed the Prime Minister and economic and service officials on recent local developments and efforts made by the Council, including the appreciated response of Presidential Leadership Council member, Governor of Marib, Sultan Al-Arada, in increasing the fuel supply for power plants in Aden. He also highlighted the measures taken by the Governor of Shabwa, Awad bin Al-Wazir, and the responsibilities assigned to local authorities and security agencies in the governorates to enhance security, stability, and ensure service delivery across the country.

President Al-Alimi directed the acceleration of fuel supply procedures to restart the electricity system in the interim capital, Aden, and reduce the suffering caused by frequent power outages.

He also highlighted the efforts of the committee assigned by the Presidential Leadership Council to stabilize the situation in Hadhramout and contain its impact on state revenues and service efficiency.

The President reaffirmed his and the Council members’ understanding of the peaceful protests witnessed in Aden in recent hours, emphasizing the state’s commitment to fully assume its responsibilities in alleviating suffering and fulfilling its essential obligations, particularly before the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

President Al-Alimi stressed the implementation of the Council’s decisions to ensure the return of all institutions to operate from within the country and fulfill their constitutional duties to the fullest extent.
