President Al-Alimi Receives Invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Thursday, Ms. Catherine Corm-Kammoun, the French Ambassador to Yemen, who delivered an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to attend the third UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3). The conference will be hosted by Nice French city in mid-2025, with the participation of several heads of state, the UN Secretary-General, and key international and civil organizations focused on environmental and economic affairs.
The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the latest local developments, including the ongoing repercussions of the Houthi terrorist militia’s attacks, backed by the Iranian regime, on oil facilities and commercial shipping. They also explored opportunities for achieving peace and stability in Yemen.
Additionally, the discussion covered the trajectory of economic and financial reforms supported by Yemen’s regional and international partners, as well as the necessary French and international support to strengthen these reforms and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people.
President Al-Alimi reiterated his appreciation for the distinguished bilateral relations between Yemen and France and praised France’s advanced stance in understanding and addressing the Yemeni issue. He expressed his hope for a more effective European role and a strategic partnership at all levels.
For her part, Ambassador Catherine Corm-Kammoun briefed the President on France’s development interventions in Yemen’s interim capital, Aden, and several other governorates, particularly in the areas of cultural initiatives and the protection of human heritage.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Presidency Office.
