Riyadh
The Presidential Leadership Council, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, continued its discussions today, Wednesday, on the latest developments in the national and regional arenas. The meeting was attended by Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami and Sheikh Othman Mujali, members of the Council, while Maj. General Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and Mr. Faraj Al-Bahsani participated via video conference. Members Sheikh Sultan Al-Arada, Maj. General Tariq Saleh, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi were absent with prior notice.
The meeting was briefed by the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and its members on several issues and assigned tasks. They discussed the outcomes of their recent meetings with regional allies and international partners, aimed at mobilizing urgent interventions to support the national currency, implement comprehensive reforms, and bolster government efforts to secure essential services and goods. These actions are intended to alleviate the humanitarian crisis caused by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
In this context, the meeting reiterated the importance of accelerating the approval and implementation of an economic rescue plan. It called for redoubling government efforts to meet the state’s vital obligations, activate regulatory agencies and law enforcement authorities, and support the independence of the Central Bank in managing monetary policy.
The Council listened to a briefing on its previous decisions and directives, as well as the coordinated actions and measures taken with relevant authorities. Additionally, it adopted several other decisions regarding the issues included in its agenda.
Moreover, the Presidential Leadership Council welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire coming into effect in Lebanon early Wednesday morning. It expressed hope that this agreement would lead to a comprehensive end to Israeli aggression and mark the beginning of a new era in which the Lebanese people focus on building their sovereign national state and ending the dominance of armed militias in the country.
The council reaffirmed Yemen’s stance against the brutal Israeli aggression on Lebanese and Palestinian territories, supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty and non-interference in its internal affairs. It stressed the need to empower the Lebanese army to assert control over the entirety of the country’s territory, rejecting any subordination to expansionist projects in the region.
