President of Presidential Leadership Council Meets with Speaker and Members of Parliament Presidency

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Sunday, with Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, the Speaker of Parliament, and the two members of the Parliamentary Presidency, Engineer Mohammed Al-Shaddadi and Dr. Mohsen Basurah. The meeting discussed political, economic, and service developments, as well as the necessary measures to strengthen state institutions.

During the meeting, the President briefed the Speaker and members of the Parliament Presidency on local developments, particularly the economic situation, fluctuations in exchange rates and essential commodity prices, in addition to the Presidential Council’s efforts to accelerate the implementation of the economic rescue plan. He also highlighted policies and measures aimed at mitigating the humanitarian suffering exacerbated by attacks from the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia on oil facilities and international shipping lines.

The President presented the outcomes of his recent meetings with regional allies, international partners, and relevant entities regarding urgent interventions to strengthen the national currency, implement comprehensive reforms, and ensure the availability of basic services and commodities.

In this context, the President reiterated his appreciation for the stance of the brothers in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, alongside the Yemeni people. His Excellency conveyed his appreciation for their continued support for the state’s general budget to meet essential obligations, foremost among them paying salaries, and securing essential goods and services for millions of Yemenis across the country.

The Speaker of Parliament provided a briefing on the Parliament’s activities during the past period, including the findings of its specialized committees regarding the performance of the executive authority and the general situation in the country.

He also touched upon the Parliament’s plan to resume its sessions and the draft agenda for its upcoming term.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahia Al-Shaibi, Director of the office of the  Presidency of the Republic and Mr. Hatim Bamahariz, Director of the Office of the Speaker of Parliament.
