
President Al-Alimi Stresses Importance of Yemeni-Somali Cooperation in Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Monday, with Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
The meeting touched upon ways to develop the historical relations between the two brotherly countries and the prospects for strengthening them across various fields.
The two parties exchanged views on several issues and regional developments, particularly coordinating joint efforts in combating terrorism and transnational organized crime. The discussion also covered the role of Somalia's forthcoming membership in the Security Council in terms of nation’s advocacy and defending its national security.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Marwan Al-Noman, Deputy Permanent Representative of Yemen to the UN, and Mr. Abukar Osman, Permanent Representative of Somalia to the UN.
