President Al-Alimi Meets with Palestinian President to Discuss National and Regional Developments

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Council members Aidarus Al-Zubaidi and Othman Majli, met today, Sunday, in New York with His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine.

The meeting touched upon latest developments in the two brotherly countries and ways to coordinate common stances in various regional and international forums. Foremost among these positions are ongoing efforts to halt the crimes of Israeli occupation and facilitate access to humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and the two Council members reaffirmed Yemen's firm position in support of the Palestinian people and their legitimate aspirations to establish their fully sovereign independent state.

His Excellency stressed that the Palestinian issue will remain a central issue for the Yemeni people and their political leadership, despite the dire conditions of war imposed by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

The two presidents exchanged views on ways to strengthen relations between the two brotherly countries, especially in diplomatic side. Additionally, they discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Shaya'e bin Mohsen Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Ambassador Abdullah Al-Sa’adi, Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations. From the Palestinian side, attendees included Ziad Abu Amr, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), a number of the president’s advisors, and Dr. Riyad Mansour, Palestine's Ambassador to the UN.
