The Presidential Leadership Council discussed developments in the national arena, most notably living and service conditions, economic and banking reforms, and the Houthi terrorist threats to return the scene to the square of comprehensive war.

The Council reviewed the letter of the UN Special Envoy, Hans Grundberg to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, which included a request for support by the President and members of the Council to launch a dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations to discuss the recent economic developments and ways to resolve them in a way that serves the highest interest of the Yemeni people.

In this regard, the Council affirmed its adherence to a clear agenda for participating in any dialogue on the economic file, including resuming oil exports, unifying the national currency, and canceling all arbitrary measures against the banking sector and the financial and business community.

In this context, the Council noted the reforms led by the government and the Central Bank of Yemen in order to improve living conditions, control the deterioration of the national currency, protect the banking system, strengthen oversight of banks and their foreign transactions, and optimally respond to disclosure standards and compliance with requirements for combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The Council affirmed its continued deterrence of the arbitrary practices of the terrorist Houthi militias, while adopting the utmost flexibility and openness to discussing any proposals that would strengthen the independence of the banking sector and the legal status of the state in the interim capital, Aden.

The Presidential Leadership Council also discussed the terrorist threats of the Houthi militias, proxies of the Iranian regime, regarding resuming the military escalation and returning the situation to the square of comprehensive war, without regard to the long-standing human suffering.

The Council called on the Houthi militias not to escape from internal and popular pressures, and the people’s priorities for living, towards threatening disastrous adventures. The Council called on the militias to stop adding to the pain of the Palestinian people and their just cause, after this propaganda has proven its falsity, and its failure over the past years, to change the convictions of the Yemeni people, regional and international positions.

The Presidential Leadership Council warned the terrorist militias against returning to the option of comprehensive escalation, which would double the suffering and destroy the remaining components of life and the scarce sources of livelihood for the Yemeni people. The Council warned the militias not to neglect the good endeavors led by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to end the war and restore the path of peace, stability and development, stressing at the same time the readiness of the armed forces in all their military formations to deter any hostile adventure.
