President Al-Alimi and Egyptian President stress importance of collective cooperation to secure maritime navigation

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Council member Othman Mujalli, met today, Thursday, with his brother His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, in addition to regional and international issues of mutual interest. This meeting was held on the sidelines of the 33rd Ordinary Arab League Summit, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, on his own behalf and the council members, expressed thanks and appreciation for Egypt’s honorable position, in support of Yemeni people, alleviating their humanitarian suffering and achieving their aspirations to restoring state institutions, peace, stability, and development.
President Al-Alimi praised Egypt’s leading role in defending nation’s issues, especially the Palestinian issue, and rejecting any attempts to liquidate it or displace the resilient Palestinian people in order to establish their own national sovereign state.
For his part, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the strength of the historical relations between the two brotherly countries and Egypt's commitment to the unity and stability of Yemen. The Egyptian president reaffirmed support for all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's firm position in support of legitimacy, represented by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government at various levels.
Presidents Al-Alimi and El-Sisi emphasized their commitment to consult on the current developments in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden regions, and to contain the repercussions on the stability of the region, and international peace and security.
In this context, the two presidents stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Red Sea riparian countries, being the key stakeholders in the stability of the region and maritime safety in this strategic shipping lane.
The meeting was attended by the Dr. Shaya'e Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Sameh Shoukry, Egypt's Foreign Minister.
