President Al-Alimi stresses Council's commitment to peace option under national, regional, and international references
Riyadh
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received, today Tuesday, UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg.
President Al-Alimi was briefed by the UN envoy on the outcomes of his recent communications at the national, regional and international levels. In addition the president was briefed on the required priorities to revive the path of the political process, including ongoing discussions on the guarantees for ceasing the Houthi militias’s terrorist attacks on various fronts, listening to reason, and prioritizing Yemeni people’s interests over any other interests.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council, on his own behalf, the Council members, and the government, affirmed the full support for the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UN special envoy to revive the peace process in Yemen and mitigate the difficult living conditions exacerbated by the Houthi militias’ terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lanes, supported by the Iranian regime.
President Al-Alimi reiterated the Council's and the government's commitment to positively deal with all efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen, under national, regional, and international references, especially UN Security Council Resolution 2216, which represents an ideal roadmap for realizing the aspirations of all Yemenis.
His Excellency the President stressed that the UN’s mediation should focus on actions, and not the words of the terrorist militias, to ensure that the militia is serious when dealing with peace efforts. These efforts include stopping the militias' military escalation, terrorist attacks on civil facilities and targets, grave violations of human rights, militarizing social life, releasing all detainees, ending the militia’s destructive unilateral measures on the national economy, and ending restrictions being imposed on movement of funds, goods, and employees’ salaries in areas forcibly under Houthis’ control.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Shaya'e Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
