The President received US Ambassador

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Wednesday, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Yemen, Stephen Feigen.

The meeting touched upon bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries and the latest developments in the Yemeni situation. In addition to the international efforts to launch a comprehensive political process, ensuring an end to the coup and the restoration of state institutions, based on the laudable efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the terms of reference agreed upon nationally, regionally and internationally.

The meeting also touched upon developments of the situation in the region, the brutal Israeli war against the Palestinian people and its disastrous repercussions on international peace and security, including the Houthi militias’ militarization of the Red Sea and the threat to freedom of international navigation.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council renewed the commitment of the Council and the government to a comprehensive and just peace approach, and to support the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy, to end the human suffering caused by the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.

His Excellency recalled the continued intransigence of the Houthi militias towards peace efforts, including their rejection of all initiatives to pay the salaries of public sector employees, their continued gross violations of human rights, and their escalation of war on various fronts. As well as their terrorist attacks on oil installations and international shipping lines, which call for taking firm international stances.

The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and Major General Shalal Shayea, the Head of the Counter-Terrorism Service.
