President Al-Alimi receives US Envoy for Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Council Member Othman Majali, received today, Tuesday, US Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking, and US Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin.

The meeting touched upon bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, the latest developments in the Yemeni situation, and international efforts to launch a comprehensive political process, ensuring an end to the coup and the restoration of state institutions, based on the laudable efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.

The meeting also tackled latest developments in the region’s situation, the brutal Israeli war against the Palestinian people and its disastrous repercussions on international peace and security.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council renewed the Council and the government’s commitment to a comprehensive and just peace approach, and to support the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy to end the human suffering caused by the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.

In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Member of the Council recalled the position of the Council and the government that is open to all initiatives in order to stop the war and revive the peace process based on the terms of reference agreed upon nationally, regionally and internationally.

His Excellency also recalled the continued intransigence of the Houthi militias towards peace efforts, including their rejection of all initiatives to pay the salaries of public sector employees, their continued gross violations of human rights, and their escalation of war on various fronts, as well as their terrorist attacks on oil installations and international shipping lines.

The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
