President welcomes the temporary truce in Palestine
Riyadh
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Wednesday, the Head of the European Union Mission, Gabriel Munera Viñales, and the Ambassadors of the French Republic, Catherine Corm-Kammoun, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Jeannette Seppen.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the Yemeni situation, and the efforts of brothers and friends to achieve a ceasefire, and the resumption of the political process that has been stalled in Yemen since the Houthi militias overthrew the national consensus in September 2014 with the support of the Iranian regime.
The meeting also touched on developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, the repercussions of the dangerous escalation, the blatant Israeli violations of international humanitarian law, and the European role required to stop the bloodshed and realize the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the basis of international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council reaffirmed Yemen's position rejecting forced displacement, the attempt to liquidate the Palestinian issue, and supporting Arab, Islamic and international efforts for a permanent ceasefire, and facilitating the arrival of the humanitarian aid that the Palestinian people urgently and unconditionally need.
In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council welcomed the success of the Egyptian, Qatari and American mediation in reaching a temporary humanitarian truce to exchange detainees, expressing his hope that these efforts will lead to a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the just Palestinian issue that guarantees security and peace for the region and the world.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council warned of the dangers of dragging the region into a broader proxy conflict of the Israeli occupation and the Iranian regime, including the Houthi militia’s threat to freedom of international navigation, its repercussions on the Yemeni economy, and exacerbating the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. His Excellency pointed out that the best way to resolve all outstanding issues in the region is implementing relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
