President Al- Alimi and Council members receive US Envoy for Yemen

  RIYADH

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with members of the Presidential Leadership Council, Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, Tariq Saleh, and Othman Mujalli received today, Wednesday, U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking and the American Ambassador to Yemen, Steven Fagin.

The meeting touched upon bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, latest developments in the Yemeni situation, and brothers' and friends' ongoing efforts to renew the truce and launch a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

President Al- Alimi and members of the Presidential Leadership Council also discussed the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, where aggressive Israeli escalation, and its serious violations of international humanitarian law are going on , and the repercussions of such violations on the chances for peace and stability in the region.

President and members of the Presidential Leadership Council reaffirmed Yemen's firm position in support of Palestinian people and their right to defend themselves , and  establish their own independent State in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

President al- Alimi reiterated the Council's and the government's commitment to a comprehensive and just peace approach in Yemen, to support the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, of the two envoys of the US and UN American envoy and UN's to put an end of the humanitarian suffering caused by the Iran-backed Houthi militias' coup.

The President and  members of the Presidential Leadership Council, reaffirmed the Council's and the government's openness to all initiatives aimed at ending the war and reviving the peace process based on agreed-upon national, regional, and international references. They also pointed out to the continued intransigence by the Houthi militias against such efforts, including their refusal to renew the truce , alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, their grave violations of human rights and military escalating  on various fronts.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak,  Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs.
