President Al-Alimi holds joint meeting with the two local authorities of Hadramout and Al-Mahra governorates

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, president of the Presidential Leadership Council, held today, Saturday, a joint meeting with the governors of Al-Mahra, Mohammed Ali Yasser, Hadhramout Mabkhot bin Madhi and the two leaderships of the local authorities in the governorates  that were affected by the tropical cyclone "Tej" last week.

The meeting discussed government's and local efforts to address the impacts of the tropical cyclone "Tej," that was accompanied by heavy rains and floods that hit the governorates of Socotra, Al-Mahrah, and Hadramout. The meeting also touched upon the required measures to improve the efficiency of local authorities and their affiliated agencies in eastern governorates to cope with climate change.

During the meeting, President Al- Alimi stressed the importance of redoubling efforts and shared responsibilities between State institutions and local authorities in the governorates of Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, and Socotra, in addition to all local, regional, and international partners in relieving the affected people and rehabilitating infrastructure and areas affected by the tropical cyclone.

His Excellency praised the efforts of the local authorities in the governorates of Al-Mahrah and Hadramout when dealing with the new tropical cyclone and the adopted plans to recover from its long  and short -term effects.

During the meeting, governors, Mohammed Ali Yasser and Mabkhot bin Madhi, briefed the President on updates of the impacts left by the tropical cyclone in Al-Mahrah Governorate, particularly in districts of Al-Ghaydah and Huswain, in addition to, Reda and Qusay'ir in Hadramout Governorate.

The two governors referred to the role of the presidential and governmental interaction in addressing the impacts of the worst cyclone in the history of Al-Mahrah Governorate. The governors praised the President’s following -up on relief and humanitarian priorities, in coordination with various local, regional, and international actors and organizations.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Omar Al-Amoudi, the Advisor to the President of the Presidential Council for Development and Reconstruction, Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Engineer Salem Al-Aboudi, the Minister of Public Works and Roads.
