President Al-Alimi visits areas hit by Tej hurricane

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, visited today, Tuesday, some areas affected by hurricane “Tej” in Al-Ghaidha city and its suburbs.
President al-Alimi, accompanied by Governor of Mahara Mohammed Ali Yasser and Minister of Public Works and Roads, inspected conditions of citizens displaced from the torrential rainstorm- affected areas .He listened to their urgent needs and directed the authorities to meet those needs and provide different forms of care to the people affected by the hurricane .
Governor of Al-Mahra, briefed President al- Alimi on the latest developments in the tropical situation, in addition to the human and material damages and losses left by the hurricane in different governorate directorates.
The initial report indicates two deaths, 150 injuries, significant damage to infrastructure, private and public properties, in addition to the displacement of approximately 10,000 individuals in the districts of Al-Ghaydah and Hasween, the most affected by the hurricane.
President Al-Alimi inspected also the ongoing works of relief, which started this morning by distributing 7000 food meals and necessary shelter materials in al-Ghaidha city and Husween District.
His Excellency praised the efforts of the local authorities and their emergency teams in responding to the impact of the hurricane, stressing the importance of being at the utmost level of readiness, even when predicting the hurricane to weaken into a low-pressure in the coming hours.
President Al- Alimi also praised the urgent response by brothers in Saudi Arabia through The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, calling upon all regional and international organizations and national private sector to provide their help to tens of thousands of affected people in Mahara governorate and the rest of the eastern governorates within the scope of the tropical situation and the rainy low-pressure depression.
His Excellency was accompanied during the visit by Major General Saleh Al-Maqalih, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Council, Salem Neemer, the Secretary-General of the Local Council of Al-Mahara, in addition to some assistant deputies and a number of officials in the governorate.
According to Meteorological and Early Warnings Centers, the coasts of Al-Mahara and Hadhramaut governorates, and their inland areas, are still affected by "Tej," hurricane. In addition, the hurricane is expected to be declined into a low-pressure in the coming hours.
The Meteorological Early Warning Center called upon all citizens, especially in the governorates of Al-Mahara, Hadhramaut, and Shabwah, to continue to be extremely careful to ensure the safety of lives and properties.
