President Al- Alimi holds a meeting with local authority and executive office of Al-Mahra

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, held an extensive meeting with the Governor of Al-Mahara , Mohammed Ali Yasser, and members of the executive office in the governorate. The meeting was held in the presence of the Minister of Public Works and Roads, Engineer Salem Al-Aboudi, to coordinate the efforts of local authorities and government in facing the repercussions of the tropical cyclone that hit Socotra today, Sunday, on its way to Al-Mahara and Hadhramaut.
During the meeting, President Al- Alimi stressed the importance of redoubling efforts and shared responsibilities between State institutions, local authorities, and all local, regional, and international partners in facing the repercussions of the tropical cyclone, which is expected to hit Al-Mahra Governorate tomorrow, Monday.
His Excellency pointed out that his visit to Al-Mahara Governorate under these exceptional circumstances affirms the Presidential Council's support for the efforts of the local authority and sharing people of al- Mahra all challenges and desired aspirations in various fields.
President Al- Alimi noted that the Presidential Council believes it is important to stand with our people in Al-Mahra, Hadramaut, and Socotra Governorates in facing the potential effects of climate change that these three governorate have been experienced their destructive effects over the past years with their destructive waves.
In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council highlighted the great burden of natural disasters that Yemen has experienced , placing it among the most affected countries by climate change, despite not contributing to any emissions at this level. Which requires responsible international support to mitigate the consequences of these disasters, that result in the loss of hundreds of lives and agricultural assets annually.
His Excellency praised the immediate response of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to offer all forms of necessary aids and emergency humanitarian interventions to help mitigating the potential effects of the new tropical storm on citizens and their livelihoods in the governorate within its presumed geographical scope.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council directed the government and local authority to provide the necessary financial resources for the emergency teams and civil defense services , and relevant agencies. His Excellency further directed the concerned authorities to rebuild and rehabilitate meteorological and early warning centers, enhancing their role in improving proactive response to climate change.
The governor of al-Mahara Mohammed Ali Yasser and senior officials of the executive authority, military and security commanders reported about the ongoing preparations and precautionary measures to deal with cyclone" Tej", citing the Presidential and government required support to ensure the success of all interventions.
The Governor of Al-Mahra, along with leaders of local authority, highly appreciated the visit of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council to the governorate under these difficult circumstances to ensure sharing the people of al- Mahara their concerns and aspirations for better for worse.
The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Muqalih, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Council.
