President Al-Alimi: Betting on Moderation of Iranian Regime and Its Militias Will Lead to Further Escalation and Chaos in Region
Riyadh
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Thursday, alongside Council Member Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, Mr. Steven Fagin, the United States Ambassador to Yemen.
The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation relations and the existing partnership between the two friendly countries across various fields. The also discussed the latest national developments, the course of comprehensive reforms, and the required American and international support for government efforts aimed at alleviating the humanitarian suffering caused by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.
President Al-Alimi renewed his emphasis on the importance of the strategic partnership with the United States and Washington’s pivotal role in confronting cross-border threats and Iran’s destabilizing behavior at both the regional and international levels.
The President said the recent regional developments, including Tehran’s resumption of hostile attacks in the region, constitute further evidence that the Iranian regime is not a project of peace or stability, but rather a project of expansion and domination based on blackmail and the management of chaos.
President Al-Alimi stressed that experiences extending from Yemen to several countries across the region have proven that betting on moderation in Iran’s behavior without addressing its expansionist structure has consistently led to further escalation rather than peace.
His Excellency also pointed to the Houthi conduct in recent weeks as a practical indication of the continuation of its escalation approach, whether on the humanitarian front, through maritime threats, or via coordination with terrorist networks in the Horn of Africa. Most recently, this was reflected in the hijacking of a vessel off the Yemeni coast.
The President also spoke about local developments, including the notable progress achieved in the path of economic and financial reforms supported by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He also spoke about the efforts to unify security and military decision-making and enhance the effectiveness of state institutions at all levels.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency.
