His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received on Sunday U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations and the existing coordination and partnership between the two friendly countries across various fields. It also discussed confronting shared security threats, securing international shipping lanes, supporting government efforts to achieve economic and institutional stability, and ending the coup by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the notable development in the distinguished relations between the two countries, expressing appreciation for the continued U.S. support for the Yemeni people and their political leadership. He particularly commended the decision to designate the Houthi militias as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, along with subsequent measures targeting their financing and smuggling networks.

The President also reviewed the government’s ongoing efforts in financial and administrative reforms, as well as measures aimed at mitigating the impact of regional developments on living conditions, highlighting the need for sustained U.S. and international support at all levels.

In this context, the President underscored the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its honorable stances in support of the Yemeni people and their political leadership throughout various stages and circumstances.

His Excellency warned against the possibility that the current de-escalation following the defeat of the Iranian regime could lead to a repositioning of its militias, allowing them to use the situation as leverage to regroup and improve their negotiating position.

The President further emphasized the importance of dismantling narratives promoted by groups linked to Iranian ideology. These groups seek to portray defeats as victories and exploit periods of calm to reposition rather than to change their destabilizing behavior in the region and against the interests of its peoples.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi,  the Director of the Office of the Presidency.
