President of Presidential Leadership Council Briefed on Developments in Hadhramout

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a telephone call with Mr. Salem Al-Khanbashi, Council member and Governor of Hadhramout, to review the latest developments in the governorate.

The discussion addressed the unfortunate incidents that took place in the city of Mukalla over the past hours.

During the call, the President listened to an initial report from the Council member on the circumstances surrounding the incidents. His Excellency was also briefed on the measures taken by local authorities and security agencies to contain the situation, reinforce security and stability, protect civilians, and safeguard public and private property.

President Al-Alimi directed that an urgent and transparent investigation be launched into the incidents, and that the case be referred to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary legal measures, in a manner that ensures the rule of law is upheld and prevents the recurrence of such unjustified escalation.

He also instructed that full medical care be provided to the injured and appropriate compensation granted to the families of the victims.

This comes in line with the state’s responsibility toward its citizens and its commitment to protecting rights and upholding the dignity of all Yemenis without discrimination..

The President reaffirmed that peaceful expression is guaranteed under the Constitution, while stressing the need to adhere to the law governing demonstrations and marches.

He also warned against acts of disorder or any harm to public institutions, given their implications for social peace and the country’s higher national interests.

He further reiterated that the Southern issue will remain at the forefront of the leadership’s priorities. He emphasized that its fair resolution is a national and moral commitment with no reversal, and that no party will be allowed to undermine or exploit its hard-earned gains under any circumstances.

President Al-Alimi also affirmed the state’s full support for the leadership of the local authority in Hadhramout.

He stressed the importance of enabling it to carry out its duties in maintaining security and stability, strengthening the presence of state institutions, and meeting citizens’ needs across various sectors.

He called on all political and societal forces to unite ranks, prioritize national interests, and mobilize all efforts toward restoring state institutions and ending the coup by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

He stressed that this is the only path to resolving all outstanding national issues and achieving the legitimate aspirations of the Yemeni people.
