His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received on Tuesday Mr. Steven Fagin, the United States Ambassador to Yemen, to discuss the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries, as well as local and regional developments, including the unprecedented military escalation in the region.

The meeting also exchanged views on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in confronting security and terrorist threats and securing international shipping lanes. It also discussed supporting the government’s efforts to achieve economic and institutional stability, restore state institutions, and end the coup backed by the Iranian regime.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the notable progress in bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. He expressed his and the Council members’ and the government’s appreciation for the firm U.S. stances toward the Iranian regime and its terrorist militias, and for deterring its threats that undermine the security and stability of Yemen and the region, as well as safeguarding maritime routes and vital facilities.

President Al-Alimi reiterated the Republic of Yemen’s condemnation of Iran’s reprehensible attacks on the sovereignty and territories of several brotherly countries. He noted that this escalation confirms the aggressive nature of the Iranian regime and its approach based on exporting crises and using armed proxies to destabilize the region.

His Excellency stressed that the attacks targeting facilities and civilian objects in the Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, and other countries in the region reflect the level of recklessness with which the Iranian regime manages its policies to achieve illegitimate objectives.

The President also reviewed the measures and actions taken by the Yemeni government in response to these developments at the political, economic, military, and security levels. He stressed the importance of maintaining maximum pressure on the Iranian regime and its proxies, sustainably securing waterways through enhanced bilateral cooperation, strict enforcement of sanctions, disrupting financing, smuggling, and arms networks, and supporting the Yemeni state in extending its control over the entire national territory.

In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council also commended the pivotal role of Saudi Arabia and its honorable stances alongside the Yemeni people and their political leadership, considering the strategic partnership with the Kingdom a key pillar for Yemen’s stability and the security of the region.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al‑Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
