President of Leadership Council Holds Talks with Kuwaiti PM on Bilateral Relations and Support for New Government

President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met on Friday in the German city of Munich with His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of the brotherly State of Kuwait. The talks were held on the sidelines of the 62nd edition of the Munich Security Conference.

During the meeting, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister conveyed to the President the greetings of his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, along with his best wishes for the President’s continued health and happiness, and for the Yemeni people further stability, peace, and development.

For his part, President Al-Alimi asked the Prime Minister to convey his greetings, and those of the Council members, to the Kuwaiti leadership. He wished them continued health and prosperity, and the brotherly people of Kuwait further progress and well-being.

The discussions addressed the latest local and regional developments, as well as the exchange of views and coordination of positions on issues of mutual interest.

The meeting also reviewed aspects of bilateral cooperation and the priorities of Kuwaiti economic and development support, humanitarian, service and relief interventions, and the government’s urgent needs across various sectors.

President Al-Alimi reiterated, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Council and the government, his profound appreciation to the State of Kuwait, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. He also reiterated deep appreciation to the Kuwaiti government and people, for their fraternal stances, support, and facilities extended to the Yemeni government and people at various stages and under different circumstances.

The President briefed the Kuwaiti Prime Minister on recent developments in the country, including the formation of the new government and the measures taken, with the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to end the duality of authority, unify security and military decision-making, and strengthen the presence of the state. He also outlined the positive implications of these steps for enhancing security and stability, improving basic services, ensuring regular salary payments, and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people caused by the terrorist Houthi militias backed by the Iranian regime.

For his part, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership in overcoming the current crisis and achieving their aspirations for security, stability, and peace.

The meeting was attended on the Yemeni side by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic; Mr. Louay Al-Eryani, Ambassador of Yemen to the Federal Republic of Germany; and Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Makhlafi, Economic Adviser to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.

On the Kuwaiti side, attendees included Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Khaled Mohammed Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, Acting Chief of the Prime Minister’s Diwan; Sheikh Salem Abdulaziz Saud Al-Sabah, Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority; Ambassador Sadiq Mohammed Marafi, Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs; and Ms. Reem Mohammed Al-Khaled, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Federal Republic of Germany.
