President of Presidential Council Arrives in Munich to Participate in Security Conference
Munich
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council arrived, today Thursday, in the German city of Munich to participate in the International Security Conference, which is set to commence tomorrow Friday amid unprecedented global security, political, and economic challenges.
This year’s conference will once again address, among various issues, the security of vital maritime corridors, particularly in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, in light of ongoing threats to international shipping lanes and their repercussions on international peace and security.
President Al-Alimi is scheduled to serve as a keynote speaker at a high-level panel discussion on maritime security, against the backdrop of continued threats by the Houthi militias and terrorist organizations aligned with them to international navigation. The discussions will also focus on the support required to strengthen the Yemeni government’s capacities to confront security challenges, foremost among them combating terrorism, smuggling, and cross-border threats.
During the conference, the President will also present the latest developments in Yemen, including the positive transformations witnessed recently with the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly in improving public services, strengthening state institutions, and unifying security and military decision-making after years of division. He will further outline the vision of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government regarding the requirements for achieving comprehensive and lasting peace in Yemen and the region.
On the sidelines of the conference, President Al-Alimi is expected to meet with a number of international leaders and participating figures at the prominent global gathering.
The meetings will focus on exchanging views regarding shared challenges and the constructive efforts of neighboring countries in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. They will also discuss ways to coordinate positions and align visions at various levels.
The Munich Security Conference is regarded as the world’s leading forum on international security policy. The state leadership is keen to maintain regular participation in its annual sessions, focusing on security and humanitarian crises, mechanisms for peacebuilding and stability, and strengthening alliances and partnerships with regional and international communities.
The new session of the Munich Security Conference is being held with broad participation from heads of state and government, as well as ministers of foreign affairs, defense, and interior.
It also includes representatives from various regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the European Union, NATO, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The President is accompanied by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic. His Excellency was received upon arrival at Munich Airport by Mr. Louay Al-Eryani, Yemen’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany; Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Makhlafi, the Economic Adviser to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and Secretary-General of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr. Waleed Al-Shahari, the Consul General at the Embassy in Frankfurt; Mr. Akram Al-Harazi, the Consul in Berlin; and members of the embassy staff.
