His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Tuesday, a delegation from the German Bundestag, headed by MP Alexander Radwan.

During the meeting, the President welcomed the German parliamentary delegation and expressed his appreciation for the Bundestag’s interest in closely following developments in Yemen.

He also commended Germany’s principled stance in support of national states, the rule of law, and the rejection of extremism and political violence. He described Germany as a reliable partner that approaches crises not with short-term thinking, but through the lens of historical lessons and sustainability.

President Al-Alimi briefed the delegation on the latest developments in Yemen, most notably the transformations witnessed in recent weeks, including the formation of a new government based on competence and professional records. He also briefed the delegation on the initiation of efforts to unify security and military decision-making under state institutions after years of fragmentation, as well as steps to end the militarization of cities and achieve tangible improvements in basic services.

He affirmed that these measures have restored the primacy of the state after years of multiple centers of authority and constituted a structural correction to the national trajectory. He noted that the relative stability achieved was the result of a strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which prevented state collapse, supported economic and service stability, and contributed to creating a more conducive environment for any peace process. He considered the partnership with the Kingdom as a pillar of regional stability.

In this context, the President also highlighted the partnership with Germany and its pivotal role in supporting the building of civil institutions, reforming the security sector in line with professional standards, supporting the Central Bank and monetary stability, and contributing to strengthening local governance capacities. He stressed that supporting the Yemeni state is a decisive investment against terrorism and irregular migration, and in enhancing regional stability and the security of maritime corridors.

President Al-Alimi expressed his aspiration for increased German support during the upcoming phase, which will focus on empowering state institutions, deterring violent ideologies, and ending impunity.

His Excellency renewed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to the path of peace, while underscoring the difficulty of advancing this track with the Houthi militias as a closed ideological group based on sectarian discrimination and the monopolization of power under the pretext of divine right.

The President stressed that peace in Yemen must lead to a modern civil state founded on equal citizenship without discrimination, with weapons subject to the constitution, elected institutions, and not sectarian militias. He affirmed that Yemenis are not seeking temporary solutions, but rather a long-term, sustainable peace.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency, Mr. Thomas Schneider, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Ms. Sofia Beugner, Deputy Ambassador.
