The Presidential Leadership Council convened today, Friday evening, in a meeting chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Council. The meeting was attended by Council members: Sultan Al-Aradah, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman Al-Muharrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, Othman Mujalli, Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, and Salem Al-Khanbashi.
The meeting, attended by Prime Minister Dr. Shai’a Al-Zandani, focused on discussing national developments at all levels, including progress made toward recovery and the normalization of conditions in the interim capital Aden and the liberated governorates. The Council reviewed the efforts of local authorities and security and military institutions to enhance security and stability, preserve public order, and improve citizens’ living and service conditions.
The Council praised the noticeable improvement in basic services, particularly electricity and water, as well as the securing of fuel supplies and the maintaining of stability in the national currency exchange rate. It also commended the payment of salaries to civilian and military employees, noting the tangible positive impact these measures have had on citizens’ daily lives.
In this context, the Council renewed its profound thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
It commended their sincere fraternal stances in support of the Yemeni people, their dedicated efforts to strengthen security and stability and uphold state institutions, as well as their generous humanitarian and development interventions across various sectors.
The Presidential Leadership Council also was briefed by the Prime Minister on the outcomes of his consultations regarding the formation of the government and the standards and criteria adopted in selecting ministers. These were based on the Constitution and the law, the Council’s directives, and principles of capability, competence, experience, integrity, and excellence—aimed at ensuring effectiveness and the required harmony to work as a unified team in serving citizens and safeguarding their interests and national causes.
During the meeting, the Council approved the new government formation, commending the Prime Minister’s efforts and the outcomes of his consultations with various national components and forces.
The Council noted that these consultations led to the formation of a government in which the Yemeni people place high hopes to lead this sensitive phase, advance a comprehensive reform agenda, combat corruption, and mobilize all capabilities toward restoring state institutions and overthrowing the coup backed by the Iranian regime.
The Council reaffirmed its full commitment to supporting the government in carrying out its duties and exercising its authorities, in a manner that enables the state to meet its inevitable obligations.
It emphasized that this support aims to alleviate the humanitarian suffering caused by the terrorist Houthi militias and to realize the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security, stability, peace, and development.
The Council further stressed the importance of accelerating the stabilization of state institutions by ensuring they operate from within the country.
It also underscored the need to enhance coordination among these institutions to implement the economic and service recovery plan at both the central and local levels, and to strengthen the confidence of the international community at all levels.
