President Al-Alimi Meets Governors of Al-Mahrah and Shabwah, Announces Promising Development Projects

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council met today, Wednesday, with the Governor of Al-Mahrah Governorate, Mohammed Ali Yasser, and the Governor of Shabwah Governorate, Awad bin Al-Wazir. The meeting reviewed recent developments in the two governorates, efforts to normalize conditions, plans to improve services, secure public and private interests, and enhance security and stability.

During the meeting, the President listened to concise briefings from the governors on the general situation and the conditions of citizens in the two governorates.

The briefings also addressed mechanisms to strengthen coordination between local and central authorities in a manner that ensures unity of decision-making, the integration of security and development efforts, and the consolidation of the presence of state institutions at all levels.

The President commended Al-Mahrah and Shabwah as two important models demonstrating the state’s ability to manage challenges with wisdom and responsibility whenever there is aware local leadership and institutional discipline. He praised the prudent approach adopted by the leaderships of both governorates in addressing security and political challenges, prioritizing the authority of the state and the rule of law, and rejecting chaos or the imposition of fait accompli by force.

He also lauded the role of the security and military forces in Al-Mahrah and Shabwah for their commitment to protecting citizens, public tranquility, and maintaining security and stability. He affirmed the state’s support for disciplined official institutions while retaining its full right to hold accountable any leaders or elements operating outside the legal framework.

President Al-Alimi stressed that Al-Mahrah and Shabwah constitute two fundamental pillars of Yemen’s security and stability, and represent an important dimension in safeguarding the security of neighboring countries and vital maritime routes. He noted that any attempts to destabilize the two governorates fall within broader threats targeting the Yemeni state and the security of the region as a whole.

The President expressed his pride in and appreciation for the people of Al-Mahrah and Shabwah, praising their national and responsible stances in support of the state and their high awareness of the dangers of dragging their governorates into violence or chaos. He affirmed that these national stances would be met with fair policies and genuine development that reflect the state’s appreciation for the sacrifices and patience of its citizens.

His Excellency also conveyed his deep appreciation for the stances of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its steadfast support for Yemen’s security, unity, stability, and territorial integrity.

In this context, the President praised the promising development projects, foremost among them the King Salman Medical and Educational City project in Al-Mahrah. He described it as a strategic project that will serve the people of the governorate and neighboring areas, contribute to improving the quality of healthcare, build and qualify national cadres, and ease pressure on service facilities.

He further commended the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting and operating Shabwah Hospital and equipping a number of model schools. He stressed that these projects represent a practical implementation of the promising fraternal partnership and the building of a successful model in the liberated governorates.

The President directed the leadership of the local authorities in Al-Mahrah and Shabwah to continue efforts to consolidate security and stability and to prevent any armed manifestations outside the framework of the state. He also instructed them to strengthen the presence of civilian and security institutions and to accelerate the implementation of service and development projects with a direct impact on citizens’ lives.

He He also instructed the need to raise the level of coordination with all government agencies in counter-terrorism efforts and across various security and economic files.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing transparency and financial and administrative discipline, as well as maintaining continuous engagement with local communities.
