President of Presidential Council Praises Saudi Efforts to De-escalate Tensions in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra
Aden
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, renewed his high appreciation for the firm fraternal stance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—its leadership, government, and people—in support of the Yemeni people and their political leadership. He commended their sincere efforts to reduce tensions in the eastern governorates and protect the legal standing of the state.
In a post on his account on X platform, President Al-Alimi affirmed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to close partnership with the Kingdom at all levels, and to unifying ranks in order to realize the aspirations of Yemenis to restore state institutions and achieve security, stability, and peace.
Earlier today Thursday, the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated its support for the President and the Presidential Leadership Council, as well as the government, in achieving security, stability, development, and peace in the Republic of Yemen. This came in a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the unilateral actions taken by the Southern Transitional Council in the governorates of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra.
The Foreign Ministry statement said that “the military movements in the governorates of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra recently carried out by the Southern Transitional Council were undertaken unilaterally, without the approval of the Presidential Leadership Council or coordination with the Coalition leadership, leading to unjustified escalation that harmed the interests of the Yemeni people of all segments, the Southern cause, and the Coalition’s efforts".
The statement expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s hope that the Southern Transitional Council would prioritize the public interest by taking the initiative to end the escalation and ensure the smooth and urgent withdrawal of its forces from the two governorates, and to hand over military camps to the Nation Shield Forces and local authorities in accordance with organized procedures under the supervision of Coalition forces.
The statement stressed the importance of cooperation among all Yemeni forces and components to exercise restraint and avoid anything that could undermine security and stability, warning of undesirable consequences.
The Kingdom also affirmed that the Southern cause is a just issue with historical and social dimensions, and that it will be resolved through all Yemeni parties sitting at the dialogue table within a comprehensive political solution in Yemen.
