Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Thursday, with the Speaker of Parliament, Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, and members of the Parliament’s Presidency, Mohammed Al-Shaddadi and Mohsen Basarah.

The meeting focused on consultations over national developments, including the situation in the eastern governorates and efforts to contain its political, economic, and service-related repercussions across the country.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council reviewed the good offices of the brothers in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, aimed at de-escalation and restoring normalcy in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra governorates. He praised the Kingdom’s pivotal role in leading a responsible path toward de-escalation, including the withdrawal of forces arriving from outside the eastern governorates and enabling local communities to manage their local affairs.

President Al-Alimi also briefed the Parliament’s Presidency on the outcomes of communications at the local, regional, and international levels to contain the escalation, protect the existing national consensus, and keep focus on the battle to restore state institutions and end the coup by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

He commended Parliament’s firm stance rejecting any unilateral measures or military movements outside the framework of national consensus and the governing references of the transitional phase, foremost among them the Declaration on the Transfer of Power and the Riyadh Agreement.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council reaffirmed the state’s steadfast position on the Southern Issue as a just national cause and an integral part of a comprehensive solution within any forthcoming political settlement—beginning with addressing past grievances and remaining open to all options determined by the popular will under normal conditions.

The meeting welcomed the statements of Mr. António Guterres, UN Secretary-General and the United Nations’ position supporting de-escalation efforts, affirming the state’s exclusive authorities in enforcing the rule of law, and warning of the risks posed by any tensions to livelihoods, social peace, and regional security.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency.
