President of Leadership Council Chairs Meeting of Supreme Security Committee

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, accompanied by Council member Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, chaired a meeting of the Supreme Security Committee today, Saturday, at Al-Maasheeq Palace.

The meeting reviewed local developments, the latest security and military updates, and ongoing efforts to strengthen security, stability, and public order across the country.

The meeting listened to briefings from Minister of Defense, Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee, Lt. Gen. Mohsen Al-Daari, as well as committee members and heads of the relevant security and military agencies, on the overall military, security, and operational situation. The briefings also covered the readiness levels of the armed forces and security services to carry out their national duties in deterring the terrorist Houthi militia and its allied groups, and in foiling their subversive plots.

The discussions also addressed recent developments in several governorates and the importance of rapid response to their security needs, in addition to the approved policies for countering terrorist threats and enhancing the efficiency of the concerned agencies at all levels.

The meeting commended the achievements of the armed forces and security services, along with all military and security formations, in combating terrorism, organized crime, weapons and drug trafficking. The meeting also praised their pivotal role in strengthening security and stability in the interim capital Aden and the liberated governorates.

The meeting further praised the efforts of the armed forces in counter-smuggling operations and in implementing the Presidential Leadership Council’s decision to shut down illegal border crossings. In this context, it applauded the efforts of the armed forces in Al-Jawf and Marib governorates, as well as the joint security campaign and the “Nation Shield Forces” in Lahj and Hadhramout.

The meeting stressed the importance of consolidating recent gains and intensifying security precautions, including monitoring the movements of Houthi sleeper cells and affiliated groups.

It also emphasized the need to ensure full protection for national and international organizations and institutions in the interim capital and all governorates.

The meeting also highlighted commitments and pledges of regional  brothers and international partners to support Yemen’s Coast Guard and enhance its capabilities in contributing to the security and safety of international maritime navigation.

Furthermore, the meeting underscored the vital role of the military, security, and intelligence institutions in confronting terrorist group activities and in reinforcing the status of Aden and other governorates as the political and legal center of the state.

The meeting reaffirmed State’s commitment to close partnership in counterterrorism efforts, the protection of civic space, the presence of state institutions, and the respect of citizens’ constitutionally and legally guaranteed rights.

The meeting was attended by Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, President’s of Presidential Leadership Council Advisor for Defense and Security Affairs, Maj. Gen. Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Al-Uqaili, Director of the Supreme Commander’s Office and Brigade Brig. Gen. Hamdi Shukri, Commander of the 7th Infantry.
