President Al-Alimi Reaffirms State’s Commitment to Oversight and Anti-Corruption Measures

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Wednesday, with Judge Abu Bakr Hussein Al-Sakkaf, Chairman of the Central Organization for Control and Auditing (COCA). During the meeting, Mr. Al-Sakkaf presented several audit reports on the performance of government institutions, public agencies, and production sectors, along with COCA’s vision for strengthening financial, administrative, and structural reforms, as well as governance measures and anti-corruption efforts supported by regional and international partners.
The President was briefed by Judge Al-Sakaf on COCA’s oversight and auditing activities during the previous period, the difficulties and challenges the Organization faces, and the necessary measures to enhance its performance, mandates, and legal and constitutional functions. The briefing emphasized the importance of achieving effective oversight over public funds and ensuring their sound management in terms of economy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
President Al-Alimi commended the efforts of the Central Organization for Control and Auditing and its active contributions to financial and legal oversight of state administrative units, local administrations, and economic entities. He also commended its role in protecting public funds and promoting the principles of integrity, transparency, and anti-corruption.
His Excellency highlighted the Organization’s role in assessing and reviewing the financial and administrative performance of various government bodies. He also directed the relevant authorities to promptly refer cases under review by oversight agencies to the judiciary in accordance with the law, in a way that strengthens the effectiveness of national anti-corruption mechanisms at all levels.
The President discussed the recent governmental measures taken to advance the comprehensive economic, financial, and administrative reform program, including the unification of all revenues and their deposit into the Central Bank’s general account, and the prohibition of revenue collection outside legal channels or by unauthorized local bodies. He stressed the crucial role expected of COCA and other oversight institutions in consolidating the progress achieved in this reform trajectory.
President Al-Alimi reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to continuing along the path of comprehensive reforms aimed at improving state institutions’ efficiency and completing the necessary steps to strengthen anti-corruption mechanisms. He also emphasized supporting COCA with qualified capacities and moving forward with the formation of the High Tender and Auctions Committee and the High Authority for Oversight on Government Tenders and Auctions, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
