His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a meeting today Sunday, with Prime Minister Dr. Salem Saleh bin Break and the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Mr. Ahmed Ghaleb. The meeting reviewed the implementation progress of the Presidential Leadership Council’s resolution on economic reform priorities and efforts to enhance financial and administrative discipline at both the central and local levels.

The President was briefed by the Prime Minister on a preliminary report regarding the execution of the approved reform matrix. The report covered government efforts to unify public revenues, improve resource collection, and ensure their transfer to the general account at the Central Bank in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. These efforts aim to improve spending efficiency, fulfill the state’s essential obligations—particularly the payment of public salaries—and enhance basic services.

The Central Bank Governor presented key financial and monetary indicators. He also outlined the Bank’s plans to stabilize the exchange market and strengthen the national currency. The Governor reviewed efforts to monitor branch performance across the governorates and to regulate cash transactions. These measures aim to reinforce confidence in the banking sector and ensure transparency and compliance with international standards.

President Al-Alimi stressed the need for strict implementation of the Council’s directives requiring all revenues to be deposited into the state’s general accounts. He emphasized that adherence to these measures is fundamental to restoring fiscal discipline, asserting state sovereignty, and ensuring equitable distribution of resources among governorates.

The President also instructed the swift execution of recommendations related to monitoring seaports and ensuring that all commercial and customs operations are subject to the competent authorities within the state’s financial system.

His Excellency further highlighted the importance of immediate institutional coordination between the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance, and local authorities. He called for intensified efforts to mobilize domestic and external resources and to complete administrative reforms in the financial and banking sectors to improve public services and living conditions.

President Al-Alimi reiterated his appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the donor community for their continued support of Yemen’s economy. He commended the recent development and economic agreements and the ongoing projects across various sectors, noting their vital role in promoting recovery and economic stability.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Presidency Office, and Dr. Ali Atboush, Director of the Prime Minister’s Office.
