His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, arrived today, Friday, in the Egyptian capital Cairo. The visit comes at the kind invitation of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to attend the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum — one of the world’s largest cultural and civilizational landmarks.

At Cairo International Airport, His Excellency was received by Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, Yemen’s Ambassador to Egypt Khaled Mahfoudh Bahah, Yemen’s Acting Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador Dr. Ali Mousa, and a number of embassy staff members.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), President Al-Alimi expressed his deep appreciation for the generous Egyptian invitation to participate in this historic event. He reaffirmed pride of Yemen's leadership, government, and people in the strong brotherly relations between the two countries. His Excellency praised Egypt’s unwavering support for the Yemeni people and their aspirations to restore state institutions, security, stability, and peace.

The President also commended Egypt’s continued care for Yemeni residents and newcomers seeking refuge from Houthi militia oppression, and Egypt’s generous facilities in education, healthcare, and residency — reflecting its historic and principled positions through all stages.

President Al-Alimi further praised the remarkable development Egypt is witnessing under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He highlighted the unprecedented urban and developmental transformation, reflected in major infrastructure projects, new cities, and the advancement of the cultural and heritage sectors — notably the Grand Egyptian Museum, which stands as a global milestone showcasing Egypt’s enduring civilizational leadership.

The Yemeni President is scheduled to take part in the official opening ceremonies of the Grand Egyptian Museum on Saturday, alongside several heads of state, prime ministers, and representatives of international organizations from around the world.

The Yemeni delegation accompanying President Al-Alimi includes Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidency Office, Mr. Nasr Taha Mustafa, Presidential Advisor, Mr. Moammar Al-Eryani, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, and Mr. Marwan Dammaj, Presidential Advisor for Cultural Affairs.
