The meeting discussed bilateral relations and prospects for enhancing cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields.

President Al-Alimi praised the strong ties with the United States and valued Washington’s steadfast support for the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership. He commended the U.S. contribution to protecting maritime routes and countering terrorist activities carried out by the Houthi militias and their backers in Yemen and the region.

The President expressed confidence in the resumption of U.S. humanitarian assistance and continued support for comprehensive reform programs aimed at stabilizing the national currency, improving basic services, and ensuring the government’s ability to meet its obligations.

His Excellency stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in counterterrorism, combating arms and drug smuggling, and supporting the capacity of the Yemeni Coast Guard. He also praised joint international efforts to intercept smuggled shipments linked to Iranian networks and their regional proxies.

President Al-Alimi underscored the urgent need to deter Houthi human rights violations, end arbitrary detentions, torture, child recruitment, and landmine planting, and to secure the immediate release of UN employees and all detainees without conditions.

He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to a comprehensive and just peace based on nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed references. He emphasized that lasting stability in Yemen can only be achieved through restoring state institutions and dismantling the militias’ military structure and sectarian ideology.

For his part, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires reaffirmed Washington’s support for the government’s reform agenda, efforts to improve economic and service conditions, and continued close partnership in counterterrorism and safeguarding international maritime security.
