President Al-Alimi Meets Leaders of Yemeni Community in the United States

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Council member Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, met with leaders of the Yemeni community in the United States in New York City.

The President briefed community leaders on the latest developments in Yemen and ongoing economic, service, and institutional reforms led by the Council and the government. He underscored how these efforts are contributing to stabilizing the national currency, curbing prices of essential goods, and alleviating the humanitarian suffering exacerbated by attacks of the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia.

His Excellency commended the role of Yemeni communities in the United States and worldwide in supporting the national economy and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people. He also praised their efforts in backing the people’s aspirations to restore state institutions and end the coup.

His Excellency the President further highlighted the role of the Yemeni community in reflecting an honorable image of Yemen’s rich culture and ancient civilization, serving as its ambassadors abroad. He emphasized the importance of benefiting from the traditions and expertise of host countries and fostering a culture of mutual respect and coexistence.

The President stressed the importance of strengthening bonds of brotherhood and cohesion among the Yemeni community in New York and across the United States, while preserving their national identity. He noted that the meeting with community leaders from various states sends a strong message, both nationally and internationally, of cohesiveness. He stressed that it also reflects a shared commitment to a civil state founded on justice, equality, partnership, equal citizenship, good governance, and equal opportunities.

President Al-Alimi called upon Yemeni experts in the United States and host countries to contribute their expertise to serve their homeland and nation. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to provide all necessary facilitation for Yemeni expatriates to invest back home .

His Excellency received a number of proposals and initiatives from the Yemeni community in the United States aimed at enhancing institutional performance at home. He also listened to ideas focused on promoting and defending Yemen’s just cause before diverse audiences in the United States.

The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Office of the President of the Leadership Council, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Mr. Emad Bamataraf, Yemen’s Deputy Ambassador in Washington.
