President Al-Alimi Meets Egyptian Prime Minister to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Council Member Major General Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, received today, Tuesday, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly sessions.
During the meeting, the Egyptian Prime Minister conveyed to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council the greetings of his brother, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, expressing his wishes for stability, peace, and development for the Yemeni people.
For his part, President Al-Alimi asked the Egyptian Prime Minister to convey his own greetings and those of his fellow Council members to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, expressing their wishes for the brotherly Egyptian people to achieve continued progress and prosperity under President El-Sisi’s wise leadership.
The meeting addressed the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and prospects for strengthening and developing them across various fields. Discussions also covered a number of regional issues and developments, as well as bilateral coordination to address shared challenges.
On behalf of himself, the Council members, and the government, His Excellency the President reiterated profound gratitude and appreciation for the Arab Republic of Egypt’s honorable stance alongside the Yemeni people and their political leadership. He further commended Egypt’s sincere commitment to achieving the Yemeni people’s aspirations for restoring state institutions, security, stability, and development.
In this context, His Excellency the President reiterated his commendation of Egypt’s humanitarian stance in hosting hundreds of thousands of Yemenis who have sought safe refuge from the brutality of the Houthi terrorist militias, and praised the facilitation extended to the Yemeni community, particularly in the fields of education and healthcare.
The meeting also discussed developments in the local situation and the repercussions of the terrorist Houthi militia’s attacks against international shipping lanes and oil facilities. These attacks have disrupted the flow of goods and humanitarian aid, driven up the costs of insurance and maritime shipping, and caused damage to the marine environment and the economies of coastal states.
President Al-Alimi addressed the latest developments in the regional situation. He commended in this context the mediation efforts undertaken by Egypt in partnership with the State of Qatar and the United States to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire and end the humanitarian suffering in the occupied Palestinian territories.
For his part, the Egyptian Prime Minister reaffirmed his country’s steadfast support for Yemen and its people, expressing Egypt’s readiness to provide all forms of support to the Presidential Leadership Council and the government in their reforms, which are coordinated with regional and international partners.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Shaya’ al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and from the Egyptian side, Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
