President al- Alimi lays foundation stones for development projects in Al-Mahra

President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, inaugurated today, Saturday, in the city of Al-Ghaydah, 10 development and service projects in the fields of roads and public works, electricity and energy, water, youth and sports, worth 28 million and 101 thousand dollars at the expense of the local authority in Al-Mahra Governorate and contributions from the government.

He laid the foundation stone for 9 development and service projects in the water, roads and public works sectors, worth 38 million and 575 thousand dollars. It was in the presence of the Vice President of the Shura Council, Dr. Abdullah Abu Al-Ghaith and Engineer Wahy Aman, the Governor of Al-Mahra Governorate, Mohammed Ali Yaser, the Ministers of Education, Dr. Tariq Al-Akbari, and Public Works and Roads, Engineer Salem Al-Aboudi, the Secretary-General of the Local Council, Salem Neimer, the Deputy Governor of Al-Mahra Governorate, Muktahr bin Aweid, and a number of officials.

The projects which were inaugurated by the President include the expansion and rehabilitation of the southern entrance to the city of Al-Ghaydah, the project of lighting the streets of the city of Al-Ghaydah, the entrances to the districts and the four tunnels in Fartak Mountains on the path of the international coastal road.

The projects also included the rehabilitation of the Sarfeet-Hof road at a length of 10 km, and the rehabilitation of the internal water network in the Sayhut district. 

In the electricity sector, a project was inaugurated to improve the electricity network of Al-Ghaydah city and its suburbs. The project consists of 13 electrical transformers and two high and low-pressure networks aimed at improving the electricity network in several neighborhoods of the city.

The list of projects also included the establishment of protective defenses for Al-Ghaydah city against floods, as well as preserving agricultural lands along a length of approximately three kilometers. The list also included the inauguration of two projects: the construction and grassing of Al-Jazah Club's stadium and the youth center in the governorate.

The  projects inaugurated by His Excellency the President included the rehabilitation of the Al-Ghaydah-Sayhut-Hadatam road, paving the main entrances to the directorate capitals, opening and paving the ring road in Al-Ghaydah city, the entrance to Shahan city, the immediate water network for Dhabut, Nashatoon, and the first phase of the water network for Shahan city. It also covered the water distribution network in the Maseela areas, the wells in the Hesween directorate, and the expansion of the fence at Al-Ghaydah International Airport.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council also laid the foundation stone for the establishment of a Model School of  excellence in Al-Mahra Governorate, aiming to nurture and graduate talented students from various districts .
