His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met on Tuesday at Al-Ma’ashiq Palace with the Speaker of Parliament Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani and members of the Parliamentary Presidium, Mohammed Al-Shaddadi and Mohsen Basurah. The meeting was held as part of ongoing presidential consultations regarding the latest political, economic, and service-related developments. As well as the coordinated efforts with all authorities to alleviate the humanitarian suffering exacerbated by terrorist Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities and cargo ships, supported by the Iranian regime.

During the meeting, the President briefed the Speaker and members of the Presidium on the overall developments on the domestic front and the government’s policies and measures to fulfill the state’s critical obligations, including the payment of public sector salaries, ensuring the continuity of essential services, and enhancing preparedness for the battle to restore national institutions and end the coup.

His Excellency emphasized that the meeting reflects the shared commitment to strengthen communication between the branches of government and to keep pace with the demands of this exceptional phase brought about by the Houthi militia’s war and its collaboration with terrorist organizations.

The President stated that the primary objective of these meetings is to keep all authorities and national components informed about current developments and intertwined challenges. He noted that the economic file remains the most pressing challenge today, with the state facing one of the most severe financial crises ever.

President Al-Alimi addressed the humanitarian, developmental, and investment consequences of halted oil exports and discussed plans to turn these crises into opportunities by mobilizing all capacities to grow domestic resources.

He added, “The Presidential Leadership Council is keen to work with the government to restore revenue sources and diversify income streams, with the help of our brothers and friends, and by adhering to principles of transparency and good governance in all government dealings.”

The President reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to transparency regarding the challenges of this phase, stating, “The real threat to the cohesion of our republican alliance is not internal disagreements, as some outlets claim, but rather the failure to responsibly address the needs and aspirations of our citizens.”

He continued, “We manage our differences with a great deal of wisdom and realism, within the framework of consensus and partnership outlined by the transitional period’s references. By God’s will, we will apply this same wisdom to address financial imbalances and develop resources as part of our joint plans to rely on ourselves and build trust with donor communities.”

The President also discussed the security situation and its challenges amid increased criminal activities by the Houthi militias and affiliated terrorist organizations.

He confirmed that security and military agencies have carried out successful operations and achieved significant breakthroughs against terrorist cells linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS, with explicit support from the Houthi militias. He stressed that confronting these threats requires a firm national discourse—especially from representatives of the people—in the face of this existential danger.

President Al-Alimi also reaffirmed the commitment to entrench a national partnership with all political forces and reject any exclusionary rhetoric or suggestions of marginalizing any national component.

He expressed astonishment at some misleading interpretations portraying the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission as a replacement for the Parliament, stating that “this interpretation is false and has no constitutional basis. The Declaration of Power Transfer clearly states that the Consultation Commission is a supporting body to the Presidential Leadership Council, while legislative and oversight responsibilities are solely vested in the legislative authority.”

Regarding regional situation, the President affirmed the Council’s and the government’s commitment to reflect the Yemeni people’s position on the Iranian regime and to ensure that Yemeni territory is not used as a platform to threaten international peace and security.

He reiterated the national constants of close cooperation with the Coalition to Support Legitimacy and openness to international and regional partners in all matters that serve the Yemeni cause and the people’s aspirations to restore state institutions—peacefully or through force if necessary.

The President also listened to a briefing by the Speaker of Parliament on the Parliament’s recent activities, including the work of its Presidium and specialized committees in overseeing executive authority performance and assessing the general situation in the country.

The Parliamentary Presidium stressed the importance of enabling the government to access sovereign resources and praised its ongoing efforts to prepare the final accounts and the general state budget.

The Speaker and Presidium members also emphasized the need to mobilize all resources and efforts to confront the economic crisis and mitigate its humanitarian impact on citizens and essential services.

They confirmed Parliament’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, expressing appreciation for the Coalition’s support—led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—for the Yemeni people and their constitutional institutions.

The meeting concluded by emphasizing the importance of convening Parliament sessions, exercising its legislative and oversight roles, reinforcing its presence in the national battle against the Houthi-imamate project, and supporting anti-corruption and counter-terrorism efforts.

The meeting was also attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Presidential Office, and Mr. Hatem Mubarak Bamahraz, Director of the Speaker’s Office.
