President Al-Alimi Receives Credentials of Vatican Ambassador

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Wednesday, at Al-Maashiq Palace in the interim capital Aden, the credentials of Archbishop Christophe Zakhia El-Kassis, Ambassador of the Holy See (Vatican) to Yemen.

Following the presentation of credentials, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council met with the Vatican Ambassador, who conveyed to His Excellency the greetings and well wishes of Pope Leo XIV to him and the Council members, along with hopes for good health, happiness, and wishes for security, stability, and peace for the Yemeni people.

In return, His Excellency welcomed the Vatican Ambassador and asked him to convey his greetings and those of the Council members to the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV. His Excellency affirmed Yemen’s commitment to providing all necessary support and facilitation to ensure the ambassador carries out his diplomatic duties effectively and in a manner that serves bilateral relations in the best possible way.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the Vatican’s principled stance in support of just causes, its steadfast commitment to the values of coexistence, and its rejection of violence, extremism, and racism. He also commended the Vatican’s notable contributions to promoting dialogue among civilizations and peoples.

The ceremony and meeting were attended by Dr. Shayea Al-Zandani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Presidential Office, and Mr. Mohammed Haj Mahfoudh, the Chief of Presidential Protocol and Ceremonies.
