The President briefed the Arab ambassadors on the developments in Yemen, including the economic, humanitarian, and living challenges imposed by the war waged by the Houthi terrorist militia. He highlighted the massive destruction inflicted on infrastructure and essential services, and stressed the need for Arab and international support to bolster the government’s efforts in confronting these challenges.
President Al-Alimi expressed his pride, and that of his fellow council members, the government, and the Yemeni people, in the unified Arab stance supporting constitutional legitimacy, Yemen’s sovereignty and independence, its territorial integrity, and the aspirations of its people for peace, stability, and development.
He also praised the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in helping to maintain the cohesion of Yemeni state institutions, as well as their developmental and humanitarian interventions aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people over the past years. He stated, “If it weren’t for this support, the government today would be unable to fulfill its basic obligations, including paying public employee salaries.”
The President also spoke about the existential struggle the Yemeni people have been waging for more than ten years against the Houthi terrorist militia’s project, supported by the Iranian regime. He affirmed, “The Yemeni people are now more determined than ever to end this suffering and bring down this project and its cross-border agenda.”
He reiterated that all efforts have been exhausted to persuade the Houthi terrorist group to abandon its sectarian approach and to comply with the will of the people and international legitimacy resolutions.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaea Al-Zandani, as well as Presidential Leadership Council advisors for defense and security Lieutenant General Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, for development and reconstruction Engineer Omar Al-Amoudi, for cultural affairs Marwan Dammaj, and Yemen’s ambassador to the Russian Federation, Ahmed Salem Al-Wuhayshi.
