President Putin Hosts Luncheon in Honor of President Al-Alimi

His Excellency President Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, hosted a luncheon in honor of His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, and his accompanying delegation.

The luncheon was attended on the Russian side by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut, Minister of Energy Sergey Tsivilev, Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina, as well as a number of senior officials from both sides.

President Putin warmly welcomed the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and his delegation, reaffirming the deep historical ties between the two friendly countries and peoples.

The Russian president highlighted the notable progress in trade and economic relations between Russia and Yemen, expressing his hope to further advance the promising bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

For his part, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council expressed his pleasure at meeting President Putin and senior Russian officials, extending his gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality.

President Al-Alimi, on his behalf, the members of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the Yemeni government, conveyed his deep appreciation for the facilities provided by Russia to Yemeni citizens residing and studying in the Russian Federation. He also noted his directives to the government to prepare properly for commemorating the centennial of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries.

His Excellency highlighted numerous tangible examples of the strong Yemeni-Russian friendship, including hospitals, universities, and ports built during the Soviet era.

Both sides discussed the course of bilateral communications and understandings between the economic and service sectors in the two countries, exploring ways to enhance and expand cooperation across various fields.

They also affirmed the continuation of consultations, the acceleration of convening the joint ministerial committee, and the exchange of visits and expertise at all levels.
