His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, laid a wreath today, Wednesday, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin Wall in Alexander Garden, located in Moscow’s Red Square, as part of his official visit to the Russian Federation.

Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the President witnessed a symbolic performance by the honor guard, after the military band played the national anthem of the Republic of Yemen.

The memorial, built in the late 1960s, is considered one of the symbols of Russian national pride. It commemorates the resilience, sacrifices, and great victory of the Russian people over Nazism and its ultimate defeat.

The tomb contains the remains of unidentified Soviet soldiers who fell in the Battle of Moscow in 1941. These remains were transferred from the city of Saint Petersburg—formerly Leningrad—to the site beside the western wall of the Kremli.

The President was accompanied during the visit by Dr. Shayea Al-Zandani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, Presidential Advisor for Defense and Security, Engineer Omar Al-Amoudi, Advisor for Development and Reconstruction, Mr. Marwan Damaj, Advisor for Cultural Affairs, and Ambassador Ahmed Salem Al-Wahishi, Yemen's Ambassador to the Russian Federation.
