President Al-Alimi Arrives in Moscow to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Developments in Yemen and the Region

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, arrived today, Tuesday, in Moscow at the start of an official visit to the Russian Federation. The visit comes in response to a gracious invitation from President Vladimir Putin, as part of the strong bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

At Vnukovo Airport, the President was received by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, Yemeni Ambassador to Russia Ahmed Salem Al-Wuhayshi, and members of the Yemeni embassy.

An official reception ceremony was held at the airport, where the national anthems of both countries were played, and His Excellency reviewed the honor guard assembled in his honor.

During the visit, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, focusing on ways to enhance bilateral relations and coordinate stances on several issues of mutual interest—chief among them, developments in the Yemeni file, efforts to establish peace, and regional and international security.

The visit will also include meetings with senior officials from the State Duma and the Russian government, as well as political, diplomatic, and cultural figures interested in Yemeni affairs and its cultural and civilizational heritage.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the President praised the historic bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen and the Russian Federation, which date back nearly a century, and the mutual commitment to expand and strengthen them in various fields.

His Excellency also commended Russia’s steadfast position in support of the Yemeni people, its legitimate leadership, and its aspirations to restore state institutions, security, stability, and peace.

The President expressed confidence that this visit would open broader horizons for fruitful cooperation and coordination, serving the interests of both friendly peoples and nations.

Accompanying the President during the visit are Foreign Minister Dr. Shaya Al-Zandani, Presidential Advisors for Defense and Security, Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, for Development and Reconstruction, Engineer Omar Al-Amoudi, and for Cultural Affairs, Marwan Dammaj.
