President Al-Alimi Receives Invitation from Iraqi President to Attend Arab and Economic Summits

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Sunday, Dr. Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq. Dr. Fuad handed over to His Excellency an invitation from his brother, His Excellency President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid of the brotherly Republic of Iraq, to attend the 34th Ordinary Arab Summit as well as the 5th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, scheduled for May 17, 2025, in Baghdad.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Iraq conveyed to President Al-Alimi the greetings of his brother, His Excellency President Abdul Latif Rashid, along with his best wishes for good health and happiness, as well as for security, stability, and peace for the Yemeni people.

In turn, His Excellency the President entrusted the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister to convey his greetings to the Iraqi leadership, along with his wishes for further progress and prosperity for the brotherly nation of Iraq and its people.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the efforts undertaken by the brotherly Republic of Iraq—under its leadership, government, and people—to ensure the success of both the 34th Ordinary Arab Summit and the 5th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit. These efforts serve the interests of the Arab world and strengthen its collective role in addressing all challenges.

Discussions covered recent developments in the two brotherly nations, their longstanding bilateral relations, and ways to advance them toward broader horizons, in addition to regional developments of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency, Dr. Shai’a Al-Zandani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Ms. Safia Al-Suhail, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
