President of Leadership Council Receives U.S. Ambassador

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Tuesday, the Ambassador of the United States of America, Steven Fagin, to discuss the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, their future prospects, and ways to enhance them at various levels.

The meeting also addressed recent developments in Yemen and the exchange of views on issues of mutual interest, including ongoing efforts to safeguard maritime passages and deter attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia on international shipping lanes and cargo vessels.

President Al-Alimi praised the distinguished bilateral relations with the United States and its active role in enforcing the ban on smuggled Iranian weapons to the Houthi militia, as well as in drying up the group’s sources of funding and terrorist activities.

His Excellency reiterated the urgent need for a collective global approach to support the government in facing economic and humanitarian challenges, strengthening its capacity to combat terrorism, organized crime, and securing its territorial waters as a close partner in protecting international peace and security.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency.
