President Al-Alimi Reaffirms the Importance of International Community Joining Sanctions Against Terrorist Militias
Aden
His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Monday, Ms. Catherine Corm-Kamon, the Ambassador of the French Republic to Yemen.
The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the latest local and regional developments, including the repercussions of the terrorist attacks orchestrated by the Iranian backed militias on oil facilities and international navigation, as well as opportunities for achieving peace and stability in Yemen.
The discussion also covered economic and humanitarian challenges, along with the necessary French and international support to enhance government efforts in addressing these challenges and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council reiterated his appreciation for the distinguished bilateral relations between Yemen and France, praising France’s advanced stance in understanding and approaching the Yemeni issue. He expressed hope for a more active European role and broader international partnership at all levels.
In this context, His Excellency stressed the importance of the international community joining the sanctions against the terrorist Houthi militias, working to cut off their sources of funding and arms supply, halting their grave human rights violations, and putting an end to their military adventures both nationally and regionally. He also emphasized the need to implement relevant international legitimacy resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216.
The President affirmed that maritime corridors will remain a constant hotspot for tension as long as the terrorist Houthi militias continue to control coastal areas and collaborate openly with terrorist organizations in Yemen and the Horn of Africa.
He also reiterated that the only way to end terrorist threats is by supporting the legitimate government, a member of the United Nations, in restoring Yemeni state institutions and extending its authority over all territories. This support, he noted, would strengthen Yemen’s role as a strategic partner of the international community in securing maritime navigation and ensuring global peace and security.
