President Al-Alimi Discusses Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments with President El-Sisi

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Sheikh Sultan Al-Arada, the Council Member, met today, Tuesday, with his brother, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab Summit in Cairo.

The meeting addressed the resolutions of the extraordinary summit, the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and regional issues of mutual interest.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council congratulated President El-Sisi on the success of the Extraordinary Arab Summit, reaffirming Yemen and its people’s deep appreciation for Egypt’s sincere stances in support of the Palestinian people and their right to establish an independent and sovereign state, in accordance with International Legitimacy Resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

President Al-Alimi also briefed his brother, President El-Sisi, on the latest developments in Yemen, including the economic and humanitarian crisis exacerbated by attacks from the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia.

For his part, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast position in supporting Yemen, its people, stability, and territorial integrity, emphasizing Egypt’s continued commitment to providing all forms of assistance to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people and to help them achieve their aspirations for security, peace, and development.

The Egyptian Presidential Spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the meeting underscored Egypt’s firm support for Yemen’s unity, independence, and territorial integrity, highlighting the connection between Yemen’s stability and Egyptian national security, as well as the security of the Arab region and the Red Sea.

Ambassador El-Shenawy further added that the meeting discussed ways to restore security and stability in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, stressing the importance of halting attacks targeting commercial vessels in the region. These attacks have led to significant losses, with Egypt losing over seven billion dollars in Suez Canal revenues in 2024 as a result.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Shai’a Al-Zindani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Khaled Mahfoudh Bahah, Yemen’s Ambassador to Egypt, and Dr. Ali Mousa, Yemen’s Acting Permanent Representative to the Arab League. On the Egyptian side, the meeting was attended by Mr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hassan Rashad, General Intelligence Chief Major General, and Counselor Omar Marwan, Director of the President’s Office.
