His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, reiterated the Republic of Yemen’s firm position that there is no alternative to a just solution for the Palestinian issue, the end of Israeli occupation, and Iranian interventions in the region, emphasizing that these steps are essential to building a regional system characterized by peace, stability, and development while eliminating sources of chaos and destruction.

Speaking at the extraordinary Arab summit held in Cairo on Tuesday, President Al-Alimi stated, “The success of any political approach to achieving comprehensive and sustainable stability is contingent on the two-state solution, ending Iran’s destabilizing influence on international security and peace, and taking collective action to eliminate armed conflicts. It is also crucial to enhance the Arab bloc’s role in countering the threat of the Houthi militias and joining the decision to designate them as a terrorist organization, which comes into effect today, Tuesday.”

He pointed out that the events following October 7 have provided undeniable facts and lessons that cannot be ignored in addressing regional issues. He stressed that Palestine remains the central issue for Arab states and peoples and that confronting expansionist occupation projects cannot be achieved through mere rhetoric or reckless adventures but through a collective strategic approach that supports the unified Palestinian position and strengthens alliances worldwide to enforce international legitimacy resolutions.

He added, “We have witnessed how opportunistic parties and groups that sought political or security gains from the ongoing war and Palestinian suffering have now retreated from the scene when the conflict has reached a critical moment and when it comes to addressing harm, sharing pain, and acknowledging losses.”

President Al-Alimi reaffirmed Yemen’s unwavering stance in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to establish an independent state in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He also rejected all projects of displacement, settlement expansion, and starvation tactics.

Furthermore, he confirmed Yemen’s full support for the stances of Egypt and Jordan, as well as the Arab recovery and reconstruction plan in all its phases. He emphasized the need to mobilize regional and international funding for its implementation with the participation of the Palestinian people and their legitimate authority while accelerating the plan to thwart the far-right Israeli government’s ambitions of making Gaza uninhabitable.

He also praised Egypt’s role in convening this extraordinary Arab summit, highlighting its strategic importance in demonstrating Arab unity in swiftly responding to the region’s intertwined challenges. He also commended Saudi Arabia’s efforts in hosting emergency meetings over the past months in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause at this critical moment of existential threats.

President Al-Alimi welcomed the new leaderships in Lebanon and Syria, expressing his hopes for Arab and international support to ensure a successful political transition in both countries. He emphasized the importance of preserving civil peace, asserting national sovereignty in decision-making on matters of war and peace, and achieving economic development as a pillar of stability for regional and Arab security.
