President Al-Alimi Discusses Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments with Lebanese President

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Sheikh Sultan Al-Aradah, the Council Member, met today, Tuesday, with His Excellency Joseph Aoun, President of the brotherly Republic of Lebanon. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab Summit being held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The meeting addressed the latest developments in both countries, the state of bilateral relations, and prospects for enhancing and developing these relations at all levels. It also explored ways to coordinate positions regarding issues and regional developments of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council reiterated his congratulations to President Joseph Aoun on his election as President of Lebanon, wishing him success and prosperity. He emphasized the new era in which the Lebanese people, under President Joseph’s wise leadership, will focus on building their sovereign national state.

His Excellency the President also affirmed Yemen's support for Lebanon, its government, and national institutions, emphasizing respect for Lebanon's sovereignty and non-interference in its internal affairs. He reiterated Lebanon's exclusive right to control its arms, make decisions regarding peace and war, and enable its army to assert control over its entire national territory.

For his part, President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon affirmed Lebanon's full support for the Yemeni people and their aspirations for peace, stability, and development.

President Aoun expressed his hope that bilateral relations would open promising horizons across various fields, in addition to coordinating the stances of the two brotherly countries in addressing common challenges at all levels.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Shaia’a Al-Zindani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Khaled Mahfouz Bahah, Yemen’s Ambassador to Egypt, and Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council. 

On the Lebanese side, the meeting was attended by Minister Youssef Raji, Lebanon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Ali HaLabi, Lebanon’s Ambassador to Cairo and the Arab League, along with several Lebanese officials.
