President Al-Alimi Briefed by Governor of Central Bank on Measures Following Houthis' Designation as Terrorist Organization

Today, His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, made a phone call to Mr. Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Mabaqi, the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen. The call addressed measures following the U.S. administration's decision to redesignate the Iran-backed Houthi militias as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
The President was briefed by the Governor of the Central Bank on the executive procedures related to the terrorist designation, in accordance with the National Defense Council's decision. Additionally, the discussion included international mechanisms aimed at cutting off the funding sources of the terrorist militias and preventing their access to resources that undermine local security and regional stability.
His Excellency the President stressed the importance of the government's and its institutions' commitment to closely cooperating with the Central Bank and the international community to implement punitive measures against the terrorist group. Furthermore, he highlighted the need to mitigate any negative repercussions for the Yemeni financial and banking sector and citizens' interests, as well as to assure the humanitarian community of the uninterrupted flow of relief aid across the country.
