The Presidential Leadership Council, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Council, continued its discussions today, Thursday, on developments in the national and regional arenas. The meeting was attended by all its members: Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, Sultan Al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, Othman Mujalli, and Faraj Al-Bahsani.

The Council also held a separate meeting with Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the Prime Minister, Mr. Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Ma’abqi, Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, and Mr. Hossam Al-Sharjabi, Head of the Economic Team. This meeting focused on discussing economic and institutional performance indicators over the past period, the trajectory of comprehensive reforms, and the government’s efforts to ensure essential services and goods, as well as to alleviate the humanitarian conditions created by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

The Council was briefed by the Prime Minister, the Governor of the Central Bank, and the Head of the Economic Team on the financial, monetary, and commodity situation, along with service performance. They discussed efforts to enhance stability and mitigate the repercussions of the systematic actions taken by the Houthi militias that harm the national economy.

The Presidential Leadership Council was briefed by the Prime Minister and officials concerned with economic affairs on the progress of implementing the council’s decisions and recommendations. These included accelerating the execution of the economic rescue plan, strengthening protection measures for vulnerable social groups, improving state access to its sovereign resources, combating corruption, deterring currency speculators, monitoring the prices of services and essential goods, and supporting the Central Bank’s independence in managing monetary policy.

Furthermore, the Council was briefed on the Houthi terrorist attacks on maritime security, their misleading narratives aimed at exploiting the suffering of the Palestinian people, and the implications of these actions for the living conditions of regional peoples, as well as the militarization of territorial waters.

The Presidential Leadership Council condemns the new Israeli aggression against Yemeni territory while holding the Houthi terrorist militias responsible for this escalation and violation of national sovereignty. The Council calls on these militias to prioritize the interests of the Yemeni people over any other agendas.

The council also reviewed and approved the minutes of its previous meeting, along with a brief summary of its recommendations coordinated with the relevant authorities. Additionally, it made several decisions regarding the issues included in its agenda.
